You may have heard that there are some upcoming changes to FortisBC’s rebate and incentive programs for natural gas equipment. On June 30, 2023, the B.C. Government made a regulation change that discontinues FortisBC’s ability to offer rebates and incentives for gas equipment below 100 per cent energy efficient. This includes rebates to replace gas equipment like furnaces, boilers, combination systems, water heaters and fireplaces.
These changes mean customers can still apply for rebates for eligible equipment until the end of the year, with all invoices dated, on or before December 31, 2023.
Below are some key dates and information about the upcoming changes:
- Residential customers must have all eligible equipment installed and invoices dated on or before December 31, 2023. They have six months from the installation invoice date to submit their rebate applications and documentation.
- For example, if the invoice date is October 15, 2023, your customer’s rebate application must be submitted by April 15, 2024.
- Commercial customers must have their invoices dated on or before December 31, 2023 and all equipment must be installed six months after the invoice date. They have 12 months from the invoice date to submit their rebate applications and supporting documentation.
- For example, if the invoice is dated October 15, 2023, your customer’s rebate application must be submitted by October 15, 2024.”
