Things to keep in mind before a plumbing renovation
Do you have an older home?
Over the years, plumbing regulations have changed, so you may need to upgrade your pipes. For example, some older homes contain Poly-B pipes which are no longer recommended.
What kind of drainage do you have?
Homes that are located on slopes will drain differently than those on flat-land. In addition, having a perimeter drain tile system in place is recommended.
Are you aware of any existing leaks in your pipes?
These will need to get fixed prior to any cosmetic upgrades.
Is your old fixture costing your more money in the longrun?
Older appliances and fixtures, such as toilets, might still function but they could be costing you in other ways. For example, many older style toilets use far more water than modern, efficient models causing your water bill to be higher than necessary. Upgrading something before it breaks can sometimes save you money on your bills.
